Where We Find Ourselves
“This concert presents two stories, one of a young Kurdish refugee who traveled thousands of miles from war-torn Syria in her wheelchair, and the other the poignant photographic images of unnamed early 20th century Durham residents of different races. Two significant works invite us to reflect and to seek deeper understanding, both through the actual words of Nujeen Mustafa and through the imagined words of the people whose faces we see in Hugh Mangum’s photographs.”
